tadrart djanet

Tadrart which is a desert area about 70 kms from Djanet. It is just so beautiful and visually stunning. you go out with Touareg guides, who have a driver, cook and a couple of guides. They are very kind, hospitable and cook 3 delicious meals a day.  sleep under the stars although there is an option of using a tent. The majesty of the scenery is unparalled, it is almost too much to take in. On this trip, you walk about 120 kms so you have plenty of time and space to absorb the beauty of the region. There are also wonderful rock art sites to wonder at. the quiet, the peace, the desert, and the stars at night and the chance to experience Touareg desert life. IA peak lifetime experience

Tamanrasset

Driving by night, be carrefull with diving in the sand. The air is pure and you can see a lot of stars you can't see in Europe.
Driving by day, the heat make you see caravans of camels or trees.
I cross north to south and south to north by hitchicking with some madness.
You have to stop to Tamanrasset and explore around in the mountains. Meeting people is very easy and interesting

Finally, here’s some useful information and handy tips for those who are planning a trip to Sahara:

Sahara has a number of environmental zones (including in djanet and ghardaia) where only residents are allowed to drive. These zones are indicated with signs with the text ‘Area de prioridad residencial‘ and are only accessible for permit holders and drivers with special exemption (so don’t drive here in your motorhome!).
In Sahara, there are special petrol stations with additional amenities for motorhomes (Special Service Stations). For example, waste disposal for the toilet, water connections, and possibly technical help.
Diesel (gasóleo) and petrol (gasolina) are easily available at petrol stations. LPG however is not easily available (the exception is in djanet ). See this list of petrol stations offering LPG in Sahara.
A warning triangle, a set of spare bulbs and reflective safety vests (for every occupant) are mandatory. Make sure you have these with you!
If you are carrying cargo (including bikes) you must have a warning sign.
Drivers who wear glasses must have a spare pair with them.
In Sahara, it is not permitted to fill foreign gas cylinders. So, before you travel, search for a list of where you can buy gas cylinders and check what the exact rules are.
